Restoring Lewisham's tree-lined streets

You may have seen 'Get a tree here' stencils popping up on Lewisham's pavements in spring, marking places where old trees used to be and where new trees will be planted very soon. As part of the Grow Back Togethercampaign – funded through the Mayor of London's Grow Back Greener fund – nearly a hundred Lewisham residents have adopted a street tree and agreed to care for it for three years. The council's contractor has started digging the tree pits and will complete the planting by the end of the year.

Check out the Grow Back Together map to see where the trees will be planted. The locations have been selected in places where new trees are needed most.  Sites were identified using the Grow Back Greener funding criteria that prioritises areas of:

  1. Low air quality

  2. High flood risk

  3. Low number of trees

The Grow Back Together project is a joint venture undertaken by Street Trees for LivingGreentalk and Lewisham Council and is funded by the Mayor of London’s Grow Back Greener Fund
