Former Chair Xanthe honoured at the Tree Oscars

Former chair and all-round tree champion Xanthe Mosley has been celebrated for her outstanding contributions to street planting initiatives in Lewisham. Recognised with high commendation at the prestigious Acorn Awards during the annual Forestry Commission Tree Oscars, Xanthe's dedication and leadership have played a pivotal role in transforming Lewisham's landscape.

From the outset, Xanthe has been a driving force in advocating for the planting of street trees, particularly in areas where their presence is most crucial. Instrumental in establishing a local charity, Xanthe's involvement goes beyond the boardroom, involving hands-on tasks like nurturing volunteers, watering trees, and spearheading fundraising efforts. Her unwavering can-do attitude and infectious enthusiasm for trees has laid the foundation for a thriving organisation.

Xanthe's commitment to ensuring the long-term health of trees has resulted in a remarkable 96% average survival rate for Street Trees for Living's projects. Her effective leadership and hands-on approach has not only made Lewisham greener but has also fostered a sense of community engagement, making the organisation a leader in involving residents in tree care.

As we extend our heartfelt thanks to Xanthe, it's evident that her legacy will endure in the form of leafy canopies and flourishing green spaces, leaving a lasting impact on the residents of Lewisham. Her dedication to making a positive environmental change serves as an inspiration for communities everywhere.
